Who we are
Wenza Watoto meaning “Do it for the Children” in Kiswahili is a Uganda-registered civil society organization working at the intersection of child development, community empowerment, and systems change. Founded with the conviction that every child deserves a dignified start in life, Wenza Watoto combines direct service delivery with advocacy to shift policies and practices that determine children’s long-term outcomes. Our mission is to ensure that children aged 3–8 with disabilities receive equitable access to quality education, healthcare, assistive technology, and psychosocial support. We recognize that early intervention is critical in shaping a child’s cognitive, emotional, and physical growth. Therefore, our programs are designed to address the unique developmental challenges of children with disabilities, bridging gaps in special needs education, healthcare services, and mental health support. At Wenza Watoto, we adopt a holistic, child-first approach that empowers children with disabilities to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Through advocacy, policy research, and direct interventions, we integrate child support, technology-driven learning, parental empowerment, and community-led initiatives to create a more inclusive and supportive ECD system in Uganda. Our commitment is to break barriers, challenge stigma and champion equal opportunities for every child, ensuring that no child is left behind.
